A Personal Experience

In January 2002, I visited Ros after 37 years of absence.  In my wildest dreams, I could not have known what she was going to teach me.  When I walked in, I saw 8 little children laughing and playing. The chickens (that had been bought to eat the ticks from the next door cows) were wandering in and out of the house, as were 3 dogs happily tracking red mud onto the linoleum. The children live in the "main house" (the office) of an abandoned dog and cat kennel which Ros was able to purchase for a very low price.  Ros's sons, Steve and Glen, live in little shacks in the yard; they each gave up their bedrooms so that a single room could be created for the kids' dormitory. The school for the children is where the animals were groomed; someone donated ceiling insulation because the tin roof made the room unbearably hot.

"I cried the first two nights asking God how I might help my friend"

There is glass in a few windows of the school;  the walls and ceiling separate when it rains.Christian schools donate their leftover books.  They erase the pencil marks then cover each page with clear tape so that erasable markers can be used.   What I noticed most  in this humble home that there was such joy, such peace, such life!  I cried the first two nights asking God how I might help my friend with her most blessed mission of raising Natal's abandoned, orphaned and abused children.
